Warriors of Wellbeing

This past week, two of our coaches, Caley and Casey, had the opportunity to be part of something pretty special at Unity Composite High School’s annual Warriors of Wellbeing day.

Each year, the school brings together members of the community to share ways students can take ownership of their mental wellbeing. Different voices, different perspectives, all centered around one idea: there are tools within your control that can help you feel better.

Naturally, this is something that hits very close to home for us at Fitness Lair.

Our approach has always been about more than just physical fitness. Yes, we train hard. Yes, we focus on strength, movement, and building capable bodies. But just as important is what happens because of that.

As Lindsey put it, “we build physical fitness as well as mental fitness by exposing ourselves to hard things daily and doing that alongside a variety of other awesome humans.”

That’s exactly what Caley and Casey brought into the school.

They spoke to students about the connection between movement and mental health. About how exercise can be a tool, not just for getting stronger physically, but for managing stress, building confidence, and creating structure in your day.

And then, they got them moving.

From Thunderstruck burpees to Bring Sally Up squats (yes… they went there), students were challenged to step outside their comfort zones. To try something hard. To laugh, struggle, and push through together.

They wrapped things up with a team workout, reinforcing one of the most powerful parts of what we do:

Community.

Because while movement is important, doing it alongside others, encouraging each other, and sharing the experience? That’s where something really meaningful happens.

Opportunities like this are incredibly important to us.

Being able to step outside the walls of the gym and connect with younger members of our community, to share what we believe in, and to show that taking care of your mental health can look like moving your body, trying hard things, and leaning into support… that’s something we’re proud to be part of.

A huge thank you to Unity Composite High School for having us as part of Warriors of Wellbeing.

And to the students who showed up, gave it a go, and maybe discovered a new way to support their own wellbeing… we hope to see you in the Lair someday!
