From Hesitant to Consistent: Lindsay Gampe

It’s not uncommon for some of our proudest success stories to start with uncertainty. There’s often fear in the unknown, and making changes—even positive ones—can feel uncomfortable.

For Lindsay, that hesitation was exactly why he reached out for support in February 2024.

He had a membership to our 24 hour access “do it yourself” gym on and off since 2021, but found it difficult to stay consistent, didn’t know what to do, and wasn’t sure if what he was doing was getting him to where he wanted to go.

Even with the support of his go-goer daughter encouraging him, it just wasn’t sticking. What was missing was a coach, an appointment he was expected to show up for, and knowing he was working on the right plan to get him where he wants to go.

With family members concerned about his health and his own desire to improve his overall well being, Lindsay recognized that one-on-one support and guidance might be the best route in sticking to a program that would help him meet his goals. So began the journey with us at Fitness Lair.

LET’S START WITH ACCOUNTABILITY 

Between a demanding job, a busy life, and limited time, Lindsay knew that accountability was going to be the necessary step in seeing changes to his health, wellness and longevity.

His concerns around high blood pressure, previous back injuries, and surgery added uncertainty in what program might be best suited to for him. The decision to reach out to the team at Fitness Lair didn’t come without some consideration and outside motivation. 

“My daughter had been attending group classes at the Lair for months and loving it. She was always pushing me to try it too. I knew I wasn’t strong enough to do it alone, so she connected with the coaches at the Lair and got me started,” Lindsay recalls.

Marina, Lindsay’s daughter who has been thriving in group classes at Fitness Lair, was all to familiar with the benefit having a team of coaches and community behind you while you navigated the unfamiliar terrain of a new wellness journey, and she wanted the same for her dad. So she reached out to our team to set up his first consultation. With her support and connection, Lindsay took the first step.

He was connected with Coach Jenna Polreis, a physiotherapist, and together they created a program that not only took into account his lifestyle and schedule, but the movement patterns and abilities that caused his initial hesitation. 

PROGRESS AND CONSISTENCY 

Since that first step in February of 2024, Lindsay has seen positive impacts, reached milestones, and steamrolled personal goals. 

Lindsay’s goal was to have something he could stick to and he’s done so well with that.” says Coach Jenna. “We have worked around vacations, summer at the lake, and many work trips, and he continues to be incredibly consistent.”

He now walks confidently into his sessions, banters with the crew, and always aims for the highest rep count in his program. Lindsay has stayed committed to showing up for himself, all while balancing downtime at the lake, volunteering during ball season, and managing a busy work schedule.

His consistency has brought visible benefits, both physically and mentally. With four inches lost and over 28 pounds down, Lindsay can see—and feel—the difference.

I have found a mental and physical benefit I never thought I would see being 56,Lindsay shares,I love the way a workout clears my head, and the physical challenge of the workouts. Now I am doing kinds of stuff I could only Imagine.”

With a push from loved ones, the guidance of his coaches, and his own grit, Lindsay’s progress has been remarkable.

Recently, he’s even joined a few group classes to enjoy some friendly competition with his daughter, Marina!
